DESCRIPTION: This handsome mahogany tantalus with brass fittings features four exquisite crystal melon-ribbed decanters complete with stoppers and five original ribbed glasses. The rich mahogany case, crafted like fine furniture, is equipped with two opening sides and a hinged top to view and access the crystal decanters and their contents. This piece dates to the second half of the 19th century and is unsigned, although we believe it to be American. CONDITION: Of the four decanters, two are in excellent condition, one has a tiny hairline, the fourth has a slight nick at the rim. The 5 glasses are original and have some rim nicks and a few rough spots. The case has a slight stress crack on the top, but this does not detract. SIZE: When the case is closed it measures 10" x 12" x 9"; open it measures 17 1/4" high. The decanters are each 8" tall and the glasses 3" tall.
