4 Sketches -Fort Ticonderoga, NY DESCRIPTION: This art folio featuring historic Fort Ticonderoga, New York, contains prints of four superb sketches by Walter Hartig that are ready for framing. A sheet detailing the history of the Fort (Held by 3 nations, 6 times attacked, 3 times it held, 3 times it fell) is included with four top-quality prints on heavy stock of Hartig's fine sketches. A fifth sketch is printed on the cover of the outer paper folio, which is entitled, Four Sketches of Historic Fort Ticonderoga. We have no idea of the age of this collection as it is not dated, but the design on the history sheet suggests art nouveau/late 19thC. This folio came from the estate of a print and engravings dealer and was part of a huge collection of fine art prints, etchings and engravings acquired over his lifetime.
CONDITION: Excellent--all four sketches are perfect; no foxing or stains. Absolutely clean and ready to be matted and framed! Minor wear to the edges of the outer portfolio and some grubby marks and areas where labels have been removed from the back; a curl to one edge of the history sheet. See photos.
SIZE: Outer folio is 14-3/4" x 11-1/2"; sketches are each 14" x 11".

art002

English School Self Portrait c1920 O/C DESCRIPTION: A beautifully executed self portrait in oils on canvas mounted to board. We date it to the first quarter of the 20thC, English School, but not an artist we recognize, nor is it signed. Nicely framed in a contemporary frame that complements the rich jewel colors in this impressionistic painting,
CONDITION: Very good. There is an air bubble, 1/2" x 6", that has formed between the canvas and the board that is invisible in most lights (over artist's left shoulder) and does not detract from the quality of this work. A painting restorer could remove the bubble if it bothers you.
SIZE: Outside frame measures 14-1/4 ins. wide x 15-1/4 ins. high, inside live area is 9-1/4 x 10-1/4 ins.

Signed English O/C-To Market, To Market, 1904 DESCRIPTION: The subject of this charming oil on canvas is Granny taking her cartload of produce, chickens and ducks to market. Alas, her donkey has stopped, right in the middle of a ford! Signed and dated J.R.Tuska 1904, the canvas has been relined and is framed in a simple gold painted frame. The colours are lovely and the detail in this painting is very fine.
CONDITION: Excellent relined canvas; the frame has a couple of small dings--you might want to change it for something fancier.
SIZE: Outside 13-1/2" x 11-3/4", inside 11-1/2" x 9-3/4".
